Though the path is currently rough, the only feeling to exude is tough. This disease carries hurt, but, let’s leave that in the dirt. Cancer can tear people apart, or, it can allow togetherness to start. Let it consume you, let’s not, as love from friends and family is what you’ve got.

Jackie's Fight

CANCER, a destructive disease overtaking such pleasant people. It breaks down bodies, both physically, mentally, and emotionally. A synonym listed for the word cancer in the thesaurus is “evil.” Good faith, prayers, much love, and knowledgeable medics will force this “evil” to subside, all of which our father has access to. Cancer. “That dog won’t hunt.” Coach Jackie Byrd, our dad, grandfather, and friend, has this abominable malady. It began in his pancreas and has spread to the liver. He recently had prevalent stomach pain and fatigue. If you know our father, he is continuously on the go, and he knew something was wrong when he couldn’t “go” anymore. Therefore, his general practitioner ordered a CT scan, after blood work was normal, and the cancer appeared. It has truly been an emotional rollercoaster, and there isn’t any family history of this ailment. Coach Byrd often gives his time, effort, care, love, and support to those that surround him, and even those that he doesn’t know. Thus, it is time for us to rise up and express our support to him. His life, and our mom’s, has drastically been altered within the last few weeks, and the love we all have already received has been overwhelming and much appreciated, especially by him. Please continue to pray that this “evil” will leave his body. Thank you all.
